More Code Doesn't Mean More Productivity

The number of commits isn't a good performance metric.

Writing more code doesn't always mean you are more productive. Maybe you just used a harder way to solve the problem.

Also, every line of code is a liability. It needs maintenance and updates.

In short, the best code is no code at all.
