Why you can't find a job

Can't find a job or can't monetize your skill? Here's why:
Supply and demand
If you are a developer and there are 100 developers and 2 jobs in the city you wanna work in, good luck. Pick skills that are actually needed in your market.
Remote jobs? Now you're competing with the entire planet.
That's why advice like this is bad:
- Just become a farmer, people will always need food.
- Start a hustle podcast, people will always need motivation.
Also, the more people who can do same job as you are, the lower the salary and benefits you can ask for.
The economy is really bad right now
Companies are spending a lot of money on products that are unprofitable (like some AI and crypto companies) and overpaying for cloud services.
This article explains why most AI companies are losing money and not making profit
That wasted money could have been used to build products that solve real problems. Those products could make money, then grow, then they will create more jobs.
Instead, what's happening is only making the economy worse.
You can't sell yourself
You might be talented, but you need to be good at selling your experience and what you can provide to the company.
Example: What makes you special compared to other developers?
Nobody knows you exist
Being good in your bedroom doesn't pay bills. If your network is 5 people, your opportunities are limited to 5 people.
I don't like usual crowded meetups because it feels like forced socializing.
My personal way of meeting people is writing online, like sharing my opinions and knowledge.
The way you look
When you meet people for the first time, people don't judge you by your skills, they judge you by your looks. So try to look good.
Avoid jumping to learning every new trend
Example:
- 2020: learn to code
- 2022: learn crypto
- 2023: learn machine learning
- 2024: learn AI agents
- 2025: become an entrepreneur
- 2030: learn how to use your brain
- 2040: learn farming
See the pattern? Every year there's a "new thing" everyone says you must learn.
Research market demand. Learn what will actually advance your career, not what's trendy. Shallow knowledge of 10 things won't make you stand out.
Also, entrepreneurship is a risky career start. Get a job first, then try things in your free time.
I explained why entrepreneurship is overrated in this article.
Conclusion
Finding a job is hard right now, and it's not always your fault. Focus on what you can control.
This is my opinion, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
